Duleep Trophy squads go through major changes ahead of second round
Shubman Gill, Dhruv Jurel, Kl Rahul, Akash Deep and Kuldeep Yadav, all five of whom have been named in India’s test squad for the forthcoming series against Bangladesh have been relieved for the second round of Duleep Trophy 24/25. They are amongst the eight players released from the tournament to partake in the test series.
Mayank Agarwal was named the skipper of India A following Gill’s departure. Pratham Singh, Akshay Wadkar, SK Rasheed, Shams Mulani and Aaqib Khan have been named as replacements for Gill, Rahul, Jurel, Kuldeep and Akash Deep respectively by the Indian men’s selection panel.
India A squad: Mayank Agarwal (c), Riyan Parag, Tilak Varma, Shivam Dube, Tanush Kotian, Prasidh Krishna, Khaleel Ahmed, Avesh Khan, Kumar Kushagra, Shaswat Rawat, Pratham Singh, Akshay Wadkar, SK Rasheed, Shams Mulani, Aaqib Khan
In India B, Rishabh Pant, Yash Dayal and Yashasvi Jaiswal have been released after being selected in the India squad and the selectors have named Suyash Prabhudessai and Rinku Singh as replacements. Sarfaraz Khan, who too has made it to the test squad, will be a part of the second round though. Meanwhile, MP’s Himanshu Mantri has been added to the squad.
India B squad: Abhimanyu Easwaran (c), Sarfaraz Khan, Musheer Khan, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar, Navdeep Saini, Mukesh Kumar, Rahul Chahar, R Sai Kishore, Mohit Awasthi, N Jagadeesan (wk), Suyash Prabhudessai, Rinku Singh, Himanshu Mantri (wk)
As far as the India C squad is concerned, it remains unchanged for the second round. Axar Patel will be replaced by Haryana’s Nishant Sindhu in India D. Meanwhile, Tushar Deshpande who picked up a niggle during the first round has been ruled out of the tournament. He will be replaced by Vidwath Kaverappa who has moved from India A.
