Wout Weghorst and Jurrien Timber involved in a heated-argument

Former Manchester United striker, Wout Weghorst, was involved in a heated argument with Arsenal defender, Jurrien Timber, during a Dutch national team training session. Oranje coach Ronald Koeman was forced to step in to defuse the tensions that boiled over between the two Dutch players.

The day after the 5-2 UEFA Nations League win over Bosnia, in which Weghorst came off the bench to score the fourth goal of the night, Koeman and his entourage held a training session for the substitutes and reserves. Considering that Weghorst and Timber were both substitutes in the match, they both started a light training session, but unexpectedly that session turned into a disaster. The 32-year-old forward was initially angered by a hard tackle from Timber in a training session.

The two players then got involved in an exchange of words, while Weghorst continued to complain to Koeman about the tackle made by Timber. Koeman, trying to act as a mediator, replied: "I told you, I said something to them."

But with Weghorst still voicing his displeasure at Timber's tackle, Koeman was then heard to shout: "And now it's over!" Weghorst was also seen laughing sarcastically as Timber's twin brother, Quinten, rammed him from behind.

The striker, who only joined Ajax from Burnley in the summer transfer window, stood for a moment on the sidelines before continuing with the session with an annoyed look on his face. After the session ended, Weghorst immediately left the field and took off his training uniform, while his other teammates remained on the field.

After leaving the training ground, the 61-year-old Dutch coach said of Weghorst: “He has no injury." The Netherlands are currently preparing for their second Nations League match against Germany on Wednesday(11th Sept). Koeman's side recorded a 5-2 win over Bosnia in their Nations League opener on Saturday night, with United striker Joshua Zirkzee scoring his first international goal after 13 minutes.
