Robin Uthappa makes a sensible statement on Virat Kohli after Amit Mishra's shocking claims
Former Indian batsman Robin Uthappa has observed certain changes in ace batter Virat Kohli. Uthappa said Kohli has evolved from a reckless youth in New Delhi to a respectable human being. He also credited Kohli’s discipline and hard work as important factors behind his massive success. He also added that Kohli has always possessed a relentless self-determination which dates back to his U-19 cricketing days.
The former Indian cricket player was in awe by the persistent belief Kohli displayed in his younger times. In the U-19 World Cup 2008, Kohli being 19 year-old led Team India to the prestigious silverware and quickly led the ranks of the Indian cricket team.
Recently, Kohli has dominated the headlines after veteran Indian spinner Amit Mishra commented about him on a podcast.
“Over the past 15 years, I’ve witnessed Virat’s remarkable growth from a brash Delhi guy into a refined, evolved individual. His personal growth has been truly tremendous, as he now reaps the rewards of the seeds he planted long ago,” Uthappa stated.
“Virat Kohli’s self-assurance has always impressed me. As a 19-year-old, his bold declarations about his abilities and confidence in himself could seem brash and off-putting. However, fast forward a decade, and his unwavering self-belief now makes complete sense,” he added.
“A lot of these things are glitter and not gold. Virat Kohli demonstrated that his on-field success was backed by genuine dedication. By Kohli’s own admission, he is obsessed with his craft. When I interviewed some of his Bangalore teammates last year, I witnessed Kohli’s relentless work ethic firsthand. After completing his media duties, he immediately headed to the gym for an intense hour-long workout, even though he had no obligation to do so,” he continued.
“This highlights Kohli’s goal to be the best in the business,” he concluded.
