Rohit Sharma is an inch away from one match suspension
Mumbai’s Skipper Rohit Sharma on the Verge of Getting Suspended
This Indian T20 League has not been well for the Five times Champions Mumbai so far. They have played five matches and tasted defeat in all of them. This is the second time after the 2014 season that the Mumbai franchise is facing such a humiliating five match defeat in the beginning of the season.
Against Punjab, Mumbai once again faced a staggering defeat. The captain of the ship, Rohit Sharma was slapped with a Rs 24 lakhs fine while the other members in the Playing XI compensated Rs 6 lakhs or 25% of the match fees. This happened because the team failed to bowl all 20 overs in the required time frame. Earlier in the season, the ‘Hitman’ was penalised with Rs 12 lakhs for the same reason when Mumbai faced Delhi in the competition. Nothing really helped as even after all this, the team lost to Punjab by 12 runs.
If they repeat the offence, Rohit can possibly end up getting a Rs 30 lakhs fine and one match suspension according to the rules laid by the Indian T20 League. The team management needs to think about this, make a plan and come out of this horrible situation. The team is already playing some poor cricket, these outside distractions will only create unnecessary chaos inside the bubble
The team is yet to find any kind of momentum as the five-time champions are sitting at the bottom of the table with zero points. The form of Dewald Brevis and Tilak Verma might give them some form of confidence but their bowling line-up is pathetic and there’s absolutely no positive that they can take home.
