Ronaldo Celebrates 2-1 Win with Tribute to His Late Father

The Portugese ace striker Cristiano Ronaldo gave a special birthday gift to his late father. The gift was a goal scored by 39-year-old striker Ronaldo during Al Nassr's match against Al Rayyan on Monday(30th September). The Yellow Submarine hosted Al Rayyan in the matchday 2 League Stage of the 2024/2025 Asian Champions League Elite which they won with a score of 2-1.

After opening the lead through Senegalese striker Sadio Mane's header at the end of the first half, Al Nassr doubled the score thanks to a goal scored by Ronaldo in the 74th minute. Al Rayyan managed to reduce the deficit in the 87th minute thanks to a goal by Roger Guedes. However, Al Nassr was still able to maintain a 2-1 lead until the match ended.

Thanks to this victory, Al Nassr is now ranked third in the Western Region League Stage standings of the AFC Champions League Elite 2024/2025 with 4 points. The 5-time Balon d'Or winner Ronaldo unusually celebrated his goal in 'siuuu' style but this time he did not. The 39-year-old forward chose to celebrate by raising both hands while his two index fingers pointed to the sky.

Ronaldo did this celebration to give a gift to his father, Jose Dinis Aveiro, whose birthday was supposed to be on September 30. "Today's goal has a different taste... I wish my father was still alive because today is his birthday," said Ronaldo about his celebration in the Al Nassr up against Al Rayyan match.

Jose Dinis Aveiro, who was addicted to alcohol, died in 2005 due to heart disease. Ronaldo beautifully scored a goal, receiving a pass from Abdulrahman Ghareeb, he fired a first-time shot to break into the opponent's goal.

This is Ronaldo's 904th goal throughout his professional career. The 39-year-old footballer is getting closer to the sensational milestone of 1000 goals. Specifically, this is Ronaldo's eighth goal with Al Nassr and the Portuguese National Team in the 2024/2025 season. The Portugese talisman proves that his sharpness has not disappeared at all at the age of approaching 40 years.
