It is the business end of the SA20 League 2024, and teams are looking to consolidate their position in the league standings. Table toppers Durban Super Giants (DSG) will be eager to continue the momentum as they take the field against Pretoria Capitals (PC) in the 24th match of the season. DSG emphatically won their last encounter against Paarl Royals (PR).  PC on the other hand shared the spoils with Joburg Super Kings (JSK) as their previous clash was abandoned due to rain. 

DSG by a fair margin has been the standout team in the competition. With six wins and two losses out of the 8 matches played so far, the hosts are comfortably placed at the top of the points table. They battered PR in their most recent clash, handing them a massive 125 run defeat. Batting first, Super Giants posted a mammoth total of 208 courtesy Matthew Breetzke (78) and Heinrich Klassen (50). The Royals in return were bundled out for just 83. Noor Ahmed ran through PR’s batting lineup and claimed a fifer to help his side secure an enormous win. 

Breetzke has looked good at the top of the order. He is the second highest run scorer of the tournament with 301 runs to his name. Tony de Zorzi will be raring to make a mark and stitch a valuable partnership with Breetzke up top. Then, Super Giants have the likes of JJ Smuts, Quinton De Kock and Marcus Stoinis in the middle order. Heinrich Klassen and Wiaan Mulder are remarkable finishers and make a lethal batting lineup. The bowlers are coming on the back of an excellent performance and will thus be high on confidence. Reece Topley, Keshav Maharaj and Noor Ahmed will be the bowlers to watch out for. 

PR’s last match was called off due to rain. They had a tough spell in the last few matches, and they will look to improve in all three areas of the game. They face a testing challenge in this clash, and skipper Parnell would want the senior pros to step up and deliver the goods. 

The side will want a flying start from Phillip Salt and Will Jacks in this game, as they will be up against a potent bowling attack. Kyle Verreynne, Rilee Rossouw and Colin Ingram will look to add runs briskly in the middle order and provide a launchpad for the likes of Shane Dadswll and Corbin Bosch. 

Eathan Bosch, Daryn Dupavillon must be cautious with their line and lengths while bowling with the new ball. The side will also rely on a decent performance from Adil Rashid and Wayne Parnell, two of the senior most bowlers in the side. Corbin Bosch and Jacks adds depth to this varied attack making it formidable.
