Sanjay Manjrekar makes a big statement on the future of the Indian Cricket Team

With the ‘Three Lions’ losing to Team India, ex-cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar makes a big claim regarding the future of the Indian side. In the batting department, Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Kuldeep Yadav and Ravichandran Ashwin gave commendable performances as the ‘Men in Blue’ defeated England by an innings and 64 runs in the fifth and final Test to take the series 4-1.

Team India was missing the services of their prime players Virat Kohli, Mohammed Shami, and KL Rahul still managed a phenomenal series triumph. Kuldeep’s magical spell brought a fifer in the first innings while Ashwin broke multiple records in this series and picked up 5 wickets in the second innings of the final Test to restrict England to 195 runs in Dharamsala. The visitors' two-innings combined score failed to cross India’s first innings total of 477 runs hence resulting in an extremely humiliating loss.

Talking about the five-match Test series, Manjrekar praised left-hand chinaman spinner Kuldeep Yadav.

“The big takeaway has been India’s bowling. Kuldeep Yadav was brilliant, and Akash Deep was impressive in the only Test he played. Bumrah and Siraj are known performers,” Manjrekar said.

This was India’s 17th straight Test series victory at home. Devdutt Padikkal, Dhruv Jurel, Sarfaraz Khan, Akash Deep, and Rajat Patidar were given Test caps and all contributed greatly at some crucial moments of the series.

“New players showed a hunger for runs against England. Their real Test will be in Australia and England. India will rely on those who will replace Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Cheteshwar Pujara in future.”
