Shikhar Dhawan will open the innings with Chris Gayle

The left-handed batter Shikhar Dhawan recently said goodbye to international and domestic cricket. After retirement, the southpaw batter will now be seen playing in Legends League Series 2024. Gujarat team has associated Shikhar Dhawan with them, the 38-year-old star player is likely to play under the captaincy of Chris Gayle. Also, both are likely to open.

The auction for the third season of the Legends League series was held in New Delhi on Thursday. Many players bid during the auction. Gujarat team bought a total of 9 players in this auction, they bought former English fast bowler Liam Plunkett for the highest price of ₹ 41.56 lakh.

The Delhi-born stalwart batter was also associated with this team, although Dhawan's name was not taken in the auction. He had already signed a contract with the previous team. However, it has not been revealed yet how much money Gujarat has paid to add Shikhar Dhawan to the team, he will feature in this league for the first time.

The Gujarat side won't mind if Shikhar Dhawan and Chris Gayle both open the innings for them. Dhawan has been very successful as an opener in international cricket and the Universe boss Gayle has also been an amazing batter as an opener.
