Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan move up the ODI Batting Rankings
Indian batters Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan have made notable improvements in the ODI Rankings for Men’s batters after their majestic performances in the ongoing edition of the Asia ODI Series. Pakistan skipper Babar Azam, however, still rules the charts.
Ishan played a brilliant knock against Pakistan under tremendous pressure and alongside Hardik Pandya stitched a crucial partnership to help his side reach a competitive total. Despite batting for the first time at 5 in ODIs, he displayed great application during his heroic knock. The performances helped him climb 12 places to the 24th position among batters.
Shubman Gill struggled to get going against Pakistan, but just like any other good player, he made an emphatic comeback against Nepal in the following game. The opening batter scored an unbeaten 67 as India pummelled the Asian counterparts by 10 wickets in a must-win encounter. This helped Gill firmly establish his place at third in the rankings. He has also reached a career-high 750 rating points.
Babar Azam, who scored a breathtaking 151 against Nepal in the only innings that he has played so far in the Asia ODI Series and it has definitely helped him strengthen his hold on the first spot in the rankings with 882 rating points.
Former Indian skipper Virat Kohli, who managed to score just 4 runs in the only innings he has played thus far has attained the 10th place with 695 rating points. Rohit Sharma is just behind him at 11th place with 690 points.
The Indian skipper was adjourned the Player of the Match against Nepal for his blistering 74* and he will certainly look to continue his good run with bat in hand going forward into the competition. Hardik Pandya scored a well crafted 87 against arch rivals Pakistan and currently occupies the 61th spot with 509 rating points.
