6 Indian players to look out for in Indian T20 League Auctions
Well, as the auction is drawing closer and closer, we have come up with six Indian players who can create a war on the auction table on February 12th and 13th. With two brand new teams this season, one thing is clear and that is the requirement of quality Indian players will be more than ever. Being the mega auction that it is, teams will also be looking forward to building a core team that can serve them for at least 7-10 years. A lot of names have been discussed on social media but here are six cricketers who we think will create a war among teams in the bidding room -
- Ishan Kishan – Ishan Kishan is one such name that will of course create havoc in the auction table. A left-handed batsman who can bat in the top order and can also keep wickets is a rare commodity in Indian cricket. Kishan has been consistent in the Indian T20 League and has performed well for Mumbai in the past. He is one of the reasons why Mumbai used to get a good solid start which the likes of Suryakumar Yadav, Kieron Pollard and Hardik Pandya used to capitalize. At least six teams are looking for a wicket-keeper in their side and there’s a deficit of wicket-keepers who can win matches with the bat. Based on all these, it is expected that Ishan Kishan will be earning loads of money from the auction but most importantly, the Jharkhand based cricketer will be under the radar of a lot of franchises.
- Shreyas Iyer – Another such player who will get a lot of attention from different teams is Shreyas Iyer. According to several reports, the batter has rejected three teams in order to be a part of the mega auctions. He aspires to be captaining a side and there are multiple franchises who are looking for a captain. The Mumbai based batter has already helped his former side compete in an Indian T20 League final but unfortunately went down. As a batter, he will definitely win you games and provide a lot of stability in the middle order. Thus, be it for captaincy or not, Shreyas Iyer will be a popular figure in the auction table.
- Yuzvendra Chahal – Not a lot of experts are talking about this leg-spinner but he has the potential to be one of the costliest players in the auction. Every time when the bowlers of Bangalore used to leak runs, Chahal used to step up and be the force and provide important breakthroughs. Now, we have also seen how important leg-spinners are in the subcontinent, thus Chahal will also be under a lot of eyes and teams won’t be shy to spend their money on him as he has already proven himself as a match winner and will definitely contribute to the success of the team.
- Shikhar Dhawan – Even though the time is against Shikhar Dhawan, still the 36-year-old will earn some good money from the auction. As a left-handed opening order batsman, Dhawan has nothing else left to prove. He has been extremely consistent and is always in the race for the orange cap. He also brings experience with him and it won’t be surprising if any of the team consider him as a leader of the dressing room. Since, the demand of Indian cricketers will be all time high this time, someone like Dhawan, who has the pedigree to win you games will easily take loads of cash with him.
- Devdutt Padikkal – Yes, another former Bangalore boy who is listed as Padikkal will go for a lot of money. The opener has shown what he can do if given an opportunity and there’s no doubt that he is the future of Indian cricket. In the mega auction, when all the teams are looking to set their team for the next 10-12 years, teams will eye for a player like Padikkal who can also serve as a leader in the future. In just over a season, he has proved his potential and like Dhawan or Kishan, a top order batsman like him will create havoc in the table.
- Shardul Thakur – Last but not the least, is Shardul Thakur. Chennai will not find it easy to bring him back into the squad as the Lord of Indian cricket will be going for loads of money. His performance in the white ball cricket against South Africa will only boost his resume as he has been winning games with the bat as well. There’s a shortage of pace all-rounders in India and Shardul will definitely fit in that category and teams might just go all-out to bring someone of his caliber. He has been extremely successful with the bowl as well and is one of MS Dhoni’s go-to man. Thus, if no one, then expect Chennai to give their everything in order to bring him back.
