Surya Kumar Yadav Reveals the Request of Young Centurion
Tilak Varma was promoted to the number 3 position in the 3rd T20I match against South Africa, and he justified the crucial move by smashing an unbeaten century. His productive knock helped Team India win the match by 11 runs and take the lead by a 2-1 margin in the four-match series. Skipper Suryakumar Yadav revealed why the 22-year-old was allowed to bat in such a crucial top-order position.
Tilak Verma could not convert his moves into big scores while batting down the order, so after the second match, he went to the captain's room with a special request. He then requested that SKY promote him up the order for a game.
“What more can I say about Tilak Varma? He came to my room after the second game and urged me to give him a chance at the No.3 slot. He wanted to do well, so I told him to go out and express himself in the next game. He asked for it and delivered for the team. I am happy for him and his family. He will bat at the same position in the series decider,” Suryakumar Yadav stated.
Team India is yet to finalise a no.3 batter after the legendary player Virat Kohli retired from the format post-T20 WC 2024. He held that position for a long period and left it after winning last year’s tournament in the West Indies and United States of America.
The youngster was happy after scoring his maiden century. “I would give credit to Suryakumar Yadav. He allowed me to bat at the No.3 slot and demoted himself for my sake” Tilak Varma said.
Tilak was happy after scoring a ton. “I would give credit to Suryakumar Yadav. He allowed me to bat at the No.3 slot and demoted himself for my sake,” Tilak Varma expressed.
