Suryakumar Yadav, to skip two matches for Mumbai in the Indian T20 League 2024: Reports
India’s lead batsman Suryakumar Yadav, who previously suffered an ankle injury and underwent surgery is at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. Yet his participation in the first two games for the Mumbai franchise in the Indian T20 League 2024, is under a dark cloud.
The five times champion will play their inaugural game on Sunday, March 24 against Gujarat, and the T20 specialist will race against time to play on behalf of his franchise.
“Surya is on track to play in the Indian Premier League 2024 but it is not clear whether he will be given a clearance by the NCA for the two matches against Gujarat Titans and Sunrisers Hyderabad (March 27),” an Indian Cricket Board source stated.
As per reports, he has been involved in the Strength and Conditioning (S&C) training but hasn’t started batting.
“There is still time before MI’s opening game but nothing can be confirmed on him at the moment,” the source also said.
Before his injury, ‘Sky’ collected 2141 runs in 60 games at a strike rate of 171 plus. He has hit four T20I tons and is the No.1 T20I batter in the world. Mumbai needs him in big matches in the upcoming season.
He will also play a prime role for India in the World T20 Cup 2024, scheduled in the USA and West Indies in June this year.
