Hobart sign Suzie Bates as a replacement player

Veteran New Zealand batter, Suzie Bates, has been signed as an overseas replacement player by Hobart for the forthcoming edition of the Women’s Australian T20 League.

Bates, who has played for Strikers, Sixers and Perth in the previous seasons, was not picked by any team in the Women’s Aus-T20 League draft. However, with English players set to be unavailable for the business end of the league due to their SA tour, Bates was signed in by Hobart.

Bates, who is the leading run-scorer in T20Is, will replace Danni Wyatt for the back end of the competition. Wyatt-Hodge and Chloe Tryon were selected by Hobart in the draft while also retaining Lizelle Leee.

The General Manager of High Performance at Hobart said this on the signing of the Kiwi: Bringing Suzie into our squad just made sense as soon as we saw she was not selected in the season 10 draft, we thought she would be the perfect replacement for Danni once we knew her availability.

"She provides more than 130 games of World T20 League and will give us an experienced operator when we lose someone of Danni's ability in our line-up," Beams said.
