Match number 30 of the Men’s Hundred will see Welsh Fire (WF) take the field against Northern Superchargers (NOS) at Headingley, Leeds on Tuesday (August 22). With three wins and as many losses, the Welsh based franchise currently occupies the fifth spot in the points table. They are coming off a 6 wicket win against London Spirits (LS). Northern Superchargers (NOS) on the other hand suffered a humiliating 81 run loss against Manchester Originals (MO) in their most recent clash. With only two wins in 7 games, NOS have only managed to secure 5 points (one washed out tie) and as a result are tottering at seventh in the league standings. 

In the last game against LS, WF put on a clinical all round show to emerge victorious. Asked to bowl first, Welsh bowlers did a decent job in restricting the opposition batters inside 110. The pace attack including David Willey, Matt Henry, Lockie Ferguson and David Payne picked two wicket apiece and strangled LS in match number 28. In reply, WF chased down the target with 7 balls to spare. Johnny Bairstow top scored with 40. Tom Abell (37*) and Glenn Phillips (21*) stitched an unbeaten 41 run partnership for the sixth wicket to help WF get over the line. 

NOS were outplayed by MO in all three departments in their last outing. Asked to bowl first, their  bowlers were taken to the cleaners by Jos Buttler and co. Barring Adil Rashid, no other bowler was able to cause much trouble to MO batters. Rashid bowled exceptionally well and ended the game with impressive match figures of 4/18. Reece Topley and Callum Parkinson were the other two bowlers who were rewarded with a wicket each. Chasing 165 for victory, NOS were bundled out for 83. Captain Parnell will be hoping his team can come up with a much better performance on Tuesday.
