The youngest and oldest cricketers listed for December 19 Indian T20 League auction

According to the list issued by the Indian Cricket Board, 214 out of 333 players are Indian while the rest 119 are international players, which includes two cricketers from associate nations. In the meantime, there is a variety of players from different origins, young and experienced in the long list. 

Youngest Cricketer in the Indian T20 League Auction List

The youngest player in the Indian T20 League 2024 is Afghanistan’s 16-year-old spinner Allah Ghazanfa. The Afghan talent was the youngest player listed in the auction in the 2023 edition too. Ghazanfar, born on 15th July, 2007 has played just 4 List A and 3 T20I matches in his cricketing career so far. He has worn the jersey for Mis Ainak Knights and Team Abu Dhabi in his short career. The 16-year-old has been also the part of Green Afghanistan One Day Cup where he played for the Junior Champions. The youngster also participated in the Wazir Mohammad Akbar Khan Provincial Grade 1 One-Day Tournament on behalf of the Kabul Province, earlier this year. 

 

Oldest Cricketer in the Indian T20 League Auction List

The oldest player who will step into the Indian T20 League auction is none other than Ghazanfar’s compatriot Mohammad Nabi. The Afghan veteran all-rounder is currently aged 38 and will turn 39 before the commencement of the Indian T20 League on January 1. Nabi has donned the jersey for the Hyderabad and Kolkata franchises in his career but failed to get a team in the 2023 season of the tournament. In the last auction, he wasn’t the oldest player as he was second to Indian spin wizard Amit Mishra. 

Coming to the purse value remaining for each of the teams; Gujarat have the biggest pocket of Rs. 38.15 Crore to spare. Hyderabad comes second in the list with Rs. 34 Crore in their purse. Notably, Lucknow have the lowest amount remaining i.e. Rs. 13.15 Crore in their wallet.
