Buchi Babu Tournament 2024 Schedule, Date and Groups

India's opening batter Ishan Kishan has been out of Team India since last year. The 26-year-old Kishan left the South Africa tour midway last year, after which he was dropped from Team India. He was also not selected in the T20 World Cup.

But now the southpaw has taken a step forward on the path of a comeback. Ishan Kishan will soon be seen playing in the Buchi Babu Trophy. The massive news is that he will lead Jharkhand in this tournament. The left-handed dynamic batter has not played first-class cricket for some time and one of the reasons for this was his playing international cricket, but now to return to Team India, he has decided to play for Jharkhand once again.

Not only him but the likes of Shreyas Iyer and Suryakumar Yadav are also set to play in this tournament. Under the captaincy of Ishan Kishan, Jharkhand's team will play its first match against Madhya Pradesh. This is good news for Ishan Kishan because his bat fires against this team. He scored 173 runs in 94 balls against Madhya Pradesh in a domestic match in which 11 sixes came off his bat. If Ishan Kishan performs well in this tournament, then surely the doors of Team India can open for him.

Buchi Babu Tournament Date

The Buchi Babu tournament is set to begin on August 15, the semi-finals will be held on September 2 and the finals on September 8. This is a four-day cricket tournament in which 12 teams participate. These teams are divided into four groups. 

In this tournament, 10 teams are from outside states, while two teams from Tamil Nadu play in it, Tamil Nadu Cricket Association President XI and TNCA XI. This entire tournament will be held in Tamil Nadu and the matches are scheduled to be held in Natham, Coimbatore and Tirunelveli. The team that wins this tournament will get a cash prize of ₹3 lakh, while the runner-up team will get ₹2 lakh. Big names like Ishan Kishan, Sarfaraz Khan, Shreyas Iyer and Suryakumar Yadav will be seen playing in this tournament.

Group A: Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh and Hyderabad.

Group B: Railways, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu Cricket Association President's XI teams.

Group C: Mumbai, Haryana and TNCA XI

Group D:  Jammu and Kashmir, Chhattisgarh and Baroda.
