This Indian batter narrowly escapes serious injury after getting hit on elbow
It is a sigh of relief for the Indian National Cricket Team that Sarfaraz Khan has escaped significant injury after taking a blow to his elbow during the team’s training session at the WACA Stadium on Thursday, November 14.
The 26-year-old was in pain and left the session midway. However, he didn’t go for an MRI scan later on.
The right-handed batter is expected to play the series opener in Perth, as skipper Rohit Sharma is out of the contest, citing personal reasons.
Sarfaraz made his Test debut against England and has played in six Test Matches, scoring 371 runs, including a century and three half-centuries. He scored 151 runs in the second innings of the first Test against New Zealand in Bengaluru. However, his stats dropped to 11, 9, 0, and 1 in the second and third Tests as the home side was white-washed by a margin of 0-3.
The Indian white ball captain Rohit Sharma hasn’t disclosed anything regarding his availability for the Perth Test. On the other side, the head coach, Gautam Gambhir, said that the Indian Cricket Board will inform about Rohit before the commencement of the series. He will likely return in the second game of the five-match Test series.
