Mohammed Shami announces his return to playing cricket with an Instagram video

Veteran Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami made his much-awaited return to cricket following a long-time injury. The star pacer underwent surgery on his Achilles tendon earlier this year and missed several important matches, including Australia’s series at home, the Indian T20 League 2024 and the World T20 League 2024. Yet, recent developments suggest the prime Indian spinner is lacing up for a comeback to competitive cricket.

Taking to his Instagram on Tuesday, Mohammad Shami shared a video of himself hitting the nets, but quite cautiously bowled a few deliveries during the training session. Although he has recovered from his ankle injury, Shami still needs time to regain his full bowling strength. Shami captioned his post as “Vibing with the latest, grinding for the greatest” on Instagram.

The 33-year-old speedster has played a prime role in India’s bowling attack and is well-known for his precise and fast-paced deliveries. His absence from the Indian side has been felt keenly, especially during crucial events. Shami’s recent post on his recovery has raised a ray of hope among the fans.

Team India are set to play a five-match Test series against Australia later this year and Shami’s availability will be a valuable asset for the team. The Men in Blue would be hoping to qualify for the World Test Series Final for the third time and will need their best cricketers in prime fitness.
