Coetzee ruled out of West Indies tour
South African pace bowler Gerald Coetzee has been ruled out of the upcoming two-match test series against the West Indies. The 23-year-old picked a low-grade side strain on his left side while representing Texas Super Kings earlier this month, in the ongoing edition of the Major T20 League tournament. He returned home and underwent further assessments before the Proteas medical unit deemed him unfit for the tour.
Uncapped express bowler Migael Pretorious has been named Coetzee’s replacement. He earned a maiden call-up to the test side back in 2020 against Sri Lanka but did not feature for SA. Pretentious has been included in the following an impressive performance in the ongoing Championship Division, England where he has claimed 23 wickets so far.
The opening test will be played at the Port of Spain in Trinidad on August 7 while the second test starts on August 15 in Guyana.
