Stoinis left out of CA contract list 2024-25

Cricket Australia has unveiled the contract list for 2024-25 which features four new players but left out seasoned all rounder Marcus Stoinis. Xavier Bartlett, who has only made three for Australia in limited overs, is joined by Aaron Hardie, Matt Short and Nathan Ellis.

While CA handed the central contract to Bartlett for the very first time, the other three players have successfully retained their spots. Despite not getting a contract at the start, they earned upgrades all through the season having played matches for Australia in T20Is and ODIs.

Keeping the fact that the contract is effective post this year’s T20 World Cup in account, veteran batter David Warner doesn’t make the cut as he plans to draw curtains on his international career after the marquee event. Stoinis, who lost his spot in the ODI side during the World Cup in 2023, is in contention to play the T20 World Cup this year but has still not been presented with a contract. Marcus Harris, Ashton Agar and Michael Neser are the other notable exclusions from last year’s list.

Matt Renshaw, who recently was picked as the backup batter in the squads after Warner’s Test retirement, has not made the cut apart from T20 whizz Tim David. Jhye Richardson has managed to retain his place in spite of missing games for Australia due to injuries.

CA contracted players 2024-25: Sean Abbott, Xavier Bartlett, Scott Boland, Alex Carey, Pat Cummins, Nathan Ellis, Cameron Green, Aaron Hardie, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan Lyon, Mitchell Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Lance Morris, Todd Murphy, Jhye Richardson, Matt Short, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Adam Zampa
