Who could be the replacement of Rishabh Pant as Wicket-Keeper in Indian T20 League 2023?
Indian T20 League 2023: Who can replace Rishabh Pant as Delhi’s Wicket-keeper?
As the Delhi Franchise director of cricket, Sourav Ganguly has several challenging tasks, including filling the vacuum left by the absence of Rishabh Pant, who just had surgery and was involved in a tragedy.
"I had a few conversations with him. I wish him well since I know he struggles due to his injuries and operations. However, he will return to playing for India in a year or perhaps a few years. "When he spoke about a player he had a special affection for, Ganguly's voice had a hint of regret. "I'm not sure. We will see, "said Ganguly.
Indian T20 League-based Delhi Franchise has yet to announce Pant's successor, and Ganguly is still debating whether local veteran Sheldon Jackson or young Turkish Abhishek Porel is the superior choice.
"We still need some time to think things through. Then, before the league, the following camp begins."
Axar Patel will serve as David Warner's assistant of DC for this season.
Ganguly oversaw a three-day camp in Kolkata that included local stars like Prithvi Shaw, Ishant Sharma, Chetan Sakariya, and Manish Pandey.
"The season has barely begun, and the Indian T20 League is still one month away. With how much cricket they play, gathering all the players in one place is challenging. Four or five people are playing in the Irani Trophy. Sarfaraz has a finger that is hurt, but it is not broken. He ought to be OK for the Tournament," Ganguly said.
Delhi team had two wicket-keeper batters in their roster, Rishabh Pant and Phill Salt. Sarfaraz Khan has some keeping hands also, but Delhi might not take the chance of that. As Pant is recovering from the injury, Delhi will now seek Phill Salt to put his hands in keeping gloves for this season of the Indian T20 League.
The 15th Edition of the tournament will begin on 31st March 2023 with the clash of the previous season’s champion and runners-up Gujarat and Chennai franchises, respectively.
