Will Jacks ruled out of Ind T20 League 2023

English batsman Will Jacks has been ruled out of the Indian T20 League 2023 due to injury.

The swashbuckler was signed by the Bangalore franchise for a whooping INR 3.2 crore (£320,000) at December’s auction, and would have bolstered Bangalore’s middle order.

But he suffered a muscle injury while fielding during England’s recent win in their second ODI against Bangladesh in Mirpur, and after a series of scans and tests was compelled to pull out of the tournament.

The injury is a massive blow for Jacks, who had hoped to use the competition to familiarise with the Indian conditions and further push his case for selection in the England squad for the upcoming 50 Over World Series scheduled to be held later this year.

As per reports, Bangalore have been in discussions with Micheal Bracewell, the New Zealand all rounder, as a potential replacement for Jacks.

Bracewell is yet to make an Ind T20 League appearance and was unsold at December’s auction. Bangalore is set to open their campaign against Mumbai on April 2 at their home ground, Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Jacks’ Surrey and England teammate Reece Topley, was also signed by Bangalore in the auction, and is expected to be fit and available for the start of the season, having spent the white ball tour to Bangladesh on the sidelines with a minor niggle.

Jacks made his international debuts in all three formats this winter, earning his T20I and Test Caps in Pakistan before making his debut in the ODI format in Bangladesh.
