South Africa Women defeated the six-time Women's World T20I winners Australia in the first semi-final by 8 wickets with 16 balls to spare and chased down the target of 135 runs comfortably. Thanks to the courtesy of Anneke Bosch's match-winning 74* off 48 and Skipper Laura Wolvaardt's 42 off 37 which powered SA-W to script history. New Zealand Women defeated the 2016 Women's World T20I winners West Indies Women by 8 runs in the second semi-final on Friday restricting WI-W to 120 runs while defending 128 runs. Thanks to the courtesy of Eden Carson who scalped three big wickets while conceding only 29 runs and Amelia Kerr's 2/14 which guided the Black Caps to seal the final spot.

SA-W and NZ-W have faced each other in 16 matches in T20I format. Out of these 16 games, New Zealand Women won all 11 matches whereas South Africa Women came out victorious on only four occasions, their one match ended with no result.
