Preview 

India (IND) will take the field against Bangladesh (BAN) in the 17th match of the World ODI Cup 2023 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) stadium in Pune on October 19. India have remained unscathed in the tournament so far with three wins in as many games. They are placed at second position in the table with 6 points and a healthy net run rate of +1.821.  

India faced Pakistan in their last match, where Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bowl first. The Shaheens made a decent start with both their openers getting starts followed by an 82 run stand between Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan for the third wicket. India started the run chase in supreme fashion with both Rohit and Shubman getting on the act right from the onset. The men in blue eventually won that game by seven wickets. Rohit was rightly adjourned the Player of the Match for his blistering 86 run knock. 

Bangladesh on the contrary find themselves at the bottom half of the table. With only a solitary win out of their three games, the Tigers are currently positioned at sixth in the points table. To add misery to their wounds, they have suffered a massive injury blow in the form of Shakib Al Hasan. The veteran all rounder is doubtful for the game against India. They squared off against New Zealand in their last match, where the Kiwis won the toss and decided to field. Bangladesh did not start well and lost wickets at crucial junctures. It was yet again the reliable duo of Mushfiqur Rahim and Shakib Al Hasan who steadied the ship for them and scored important runs after the top order failed. Apart from these two, none of the other batters contributed which resulted in Bangladesh scoring only 245 runs. New Zealand, despite losing Rachin Ravindra early, got over the line with relative ease as Kane Williamson, Devon Conway and Daryl Mitchell made invaluable contributions to finish the match inside 43 overs.
