The 45th match of the World T20 League 2024 will be played between England and South Africa at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in St Lucia on Friday, June 21. 

Both sides are entering this highly awaited battle riding on the backs of victories in their respective Super Eight stage matches. The Three Lions managed a thumping win against the co-hosts West Indies in their last match. Phil Salt’s outstanding 87 runs off just 47 deliveries powered the defending champions to effortlessly chase 181 runs with 15 balls and eight wickets to spare. This was the first loss for the Caribbean side in their World T20 League 2024 campaign. 

On the other side, the Proteas have sealed their fifth consecutive win of their World T20 campaign by defeating a gutsy USA side by an 18-run margin. Keeper batter Quinton de Kock’s 74 runs off 40 balls drove the SA side to a huge total of 195 runs. The debutants were stunned by a stellar bowling show by Kagiso Rabada, as he achieved a figure of 3/18, assisting his side to restrict the USA to 176/6.

The Aiden Markram side is in tremendous form in this tournament. Yet facing the defending champions will be a tough challenge. Their bowling side needs to perform picture-perfect in order to restrict the English guns from blazing all out. England has got a perfect rhythm after their monumental win in the last game. They have appeared to be a more balanced side on pen and paper in this tournament. Hence we believe they have a narrow edge over South Africa in this game.
