It's a do-or-die match for the 2014 T20 World series winners Sri Lanka(SL) who will face another Asian side Nepal(NEP) in the match 23 of the T20 World Series League 2024 on Wednesday(12th June). This Group D match is scheduled to take place at Central Broward Park & Broward County Stadium, Lauderhill, United States.

The Lankan Lions are having a tough time in this tournament and they are currently at the bottom in their group and yet to win a match. On the other hand, Nepal has just played a single match so far and they are on the 4th place in Group D after losing their opening league encounter to Netherlands(NED) in a close game.

The Proteas have sealed their spot in the Super 8 of the tournament after beating Bangladesh(BAN) in a low scoring nail-biter by 4 runs on Monday. Many would argue that on paper Group D is one of the least competitive groups in this year's T20 World League but the reality has been quite different. SA, expected to top the group, are doing so with 3 wins from three games but they have been far from convincing in each of the victories.

SL has lost both their games and along with NEP are the teams with zero points on the board and this is going to be a crucial game for them if they lose this match they will be knocked out from the tournament. NEP lost their opening match against the NED by 6 wickets with 8 balls remaining. SL has already been beaten twice with defeats against South Africa(SA) and Bangladesh(BAN).

SL and NEP are yet to play in any format of the game. This is the very first T20I between Sri Lanka. The South Asian side will play against a top nation in international cricket for the very first time. It will be interesting how Nepal handles the challenge.
