In an exciting announcement made by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday (July 4), the young and talented Yash Dhull, who captained the Under-19 World Cup-winning team, has been chosen to lead India's squad in the upcoming Men's Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2023. The vice-captaincy has been entrusted to Punjab's rising star, Abhishek Sharma.

The selection committee has also recognized the outstanding performances of certain players in recent tournaments. The impressive Punjab wicketkeeper, Prabhsimran Singh, who notched up a sensational maiden T20 hundred during IPL 2023 against Delhi Capitals, has been given the responsibility of donning the wicketkeeper's gloves. Joining him behind the stumps is Rajasthan Royals' talented Dhruv Jurel, who has consistently showcased his skills.

Sai Sudharsan, who topped the charts in TNPL 2023 and delivered a remarkable 96-run innings for Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2023 final against the eventual champions Chennai Super Kings, has rightfully earned his spot in the squad. Another player who has caught the selectors' attention is Riyan Parag, whose all-round abilities have made him a promising prospect for the team.

Nehal Wadhera, who made a strong impression in his debut season with the Mumbai Indians, scoring back-to-back half-centuries, has been included in the standby list, demonstrating the depth of talent available for the Indian side.

The coaching staff for the tournament includes the experienced Sitanshu Kotak as the head coach, along with Sairaj Bahutule as the bowling coach and Munish Bali as the fielding coach. Their expertise will undoubtedly guide the young players and prepare them for the challenges that lie ahead.

India A has been placed in Group B, where they will face tough competition from Nepal, UAE A, and Pakistan A. Meanwhile, Group A comprises Sri Lanka A, Bangladesh A, Afghanistan A, and Oman A. The top two teams from each group will progress to the semi-finals scheduled for July 21.
