Ajinkya Rahane set to miss England tour

Ajinkya Rahane has suffered a massive grade III hamstring injury which is set to  rule him out of the forthcoming English tour in June-July. The veteran has already lost his place in the playing XI, Hanuma Vihari and Shreyas having taken over Cheteshwar Pujara and his positions, but the latest blow could even cost the former skipper his place in the touring party. The Indian team is expected to be selected in a week’s time, and will leave for England around June 16.

Rahane suffered the injury during Kolkata’s last game against Hyderabad on May 14 at the Maharashtra Cricket Stadium and is set to leave the bubble on Monday evening. As per the sources within the Board Rahane will be reporting at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore where he may need approx 4 weeks for rehab. The 33 year old has had a quiet Ind T20 League with only 133 runs to his name.
