Delhi wins a nail-biter against Lucknow, sealing two crucial points

It was a proper nail-biter on Monday, 24th March when Delhi hosted Lucknow at Visakhapatnam in the match 04 of the Indian T20 League 2025 in the northern battle. Axar Patel led Delhi started their campaign on a positive note after sealing two crucial points against Rishabh Pant-led Lucknow.

The uncapped Ashutosh Sharma and debutant Vipraj Nigam single-handedly steered Delhi to victory. In the mega auction of IND T20 League 2025, Delhi acquired 26-year-old Ashutosh Sharma for ₹3.8 crore.

Chasing a mammoth target of 210 runs, Delhi were struggling at 65 for 5, with their win probability reduced to just 2% on that stage. However, nobody saw it coming when two rising batters Ashutosh Sharma and Vipraj Nigam sealed the game for their side by scoring 66 and 39 runs respectively and grabbed two crucial points.

The right-handed batter Ashutosh Sharma was brought in as an impact player, replacing Mukesh Kumar, a decision that proved instrumental. By the end of the 15th over, Ashutosh Shama just scored 20 runs off 20 balls, but in the last five overs, he unleashed havoc on the Lucknow bowling attack, adding 46 runs in just 11 balls and sealing the game for his side.

With six runs needed in the final over and only one wicket remaining, Mohit Sharma was on strike. Left-arm spinner Shahbaz Ahmed nearly dismissed Mohit Sharma on the first ball, but wicketkeeper skipper Rishabh Pant missed a straightforward stumping opportunity. On the second ball, Mohit Sharma managed a single, bringing Ashutosh Sharma back on strike. Without hesitation, he launched the next delivery into the stands, sealing a sensational victory for Delhi.
