New Zealand tour of Australia

AUS vs NZ, 3rd ODI

Preview

NZ's performance with the bat in both ODIs was beyond pitiful. If they had batted better, they could have taken both games. It's made worse by the fact that they are playing a full strength squad. The third and final match of this ODI series will be played on September 11 at the Cazaly's Stadium, Cairns.

Australia would be pleased with its team's ability to adapt under pressure in both victories, but it would also be rather miffed about finding itself in those difficult situations in the first place. The top order has had trouble scoring, and it has been difficult for the batters to handle Trent Boult. The only batter who has appeared to be in fine touch is David Warner. We do believe that this is a great chance to wager against Marcus Stoinis and Aaron Finch, two batters who have struggled badly in this series. Australia has bowled quite well. The New Zealand batters have fallen victim to Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazelwood, and Adam Zampa's dominance. It was also encouraging to see Sean Abbot completely outsmart the Kiwi batters in the last game.

This series may have been 2-0 in favour of New Zealand. On both occasions, they had a great chance to close out the game but failed to do so. Clearly, the batting order is to blame for the defeat. No one has been able to clear the field more than once, not a single batter has a strike rate above 75, and not a single fifty has been scored throughout the series.

Although the batters would have expected more out of themselves, the batting circumstances were difficult. The performance of New Zealand in this match will likely depend on the three batsmen with forty or more runs: Kane Williamson, Tom Latham, and Devon Conway.

The bowlers will have to put up the most effort if New Zealand is to have a chance of winning. With eight wickets so far, Matt Henry and Trent Boult have both been outstanding. When practically every other bowler has cashed in, Tim Southee would feel as though he lost out. When New Zealand considers the impact that Zampa has had, they should also take into account the lack of impact that the spinners have had.

Pitch Report

The conditions have been quite favourable for bowlers, offering a lot of swing. Once more, early wickets and a sluggish rate of scoring were evident. We do believe the scores we have witnessed thus far are below par, so perhaps something between 225 and 240 could be seen.

Match Prediction

We are going to bet on Australia to win. There is no question that the home team's lineup has superior depth. Australia's ability to recover from difficult situations is ensured by its all-round batsmen and strong bowling options. We will wager on the hosts to win this series 3-0 for this reason.
