Benjamin Mendy sues Man City for unpaid wages
Mendy launches legal claim against Man City
The left-back Benjamin Mendy has made demands against his former club, Manchester City regarding unpaid salaries. The French man Mendy feels he has not received his rights as a player. Mendy's career at Man City has been somewhat disappointing. He has played very well and is said to be one of the best left-back candidates in the world. Unfortunately, the 29-year-old was involved in big problems off the field. He faced allegations of rape several years ago and was forced to shift his focus away from the field. At that time, even though Mendy had not been proven guilty, EPL side Man City suspended him in September 2021.
Mendy had to face a court process which turned out to be very long, lasting a matter of years. It was only in January 2023 that he was proven innocent. The French defender was found not guilty of six counts of rape and one count of sexual violence. Then, in July 2023, Mendy was also proven not guilty on one count of rape and one charge of attempted rape.
In essence, when his name was already tarnished, after the club had been suspended, it turned out that Mendy was completely innocent. Even though Mendy's career has been destroyed. After being released and declared innocent, Mendy joined French club Lorient some time ago. He has made three appearances so far.
Most recently, according to the Daily Mail report, Mendy has issued demands to Man City regarding unpaid salaries, estimated to be around £9 million or £10 million. At that time, Mendy was banned from entering the city of Manchester because of the circumstances of his case. So he can't train or play for Man City. The club once promised that they would pay Mendy's salary once the trial was over.
