Former Arsenal legend wants Marcus Rashford to join Gunners
Emmanuel Petit advised Marcus Rashford to join the Gunners
Former Arsenal midfielder, Emmanuel Petit, advised Marcus Rashford to join the Gunners squad if he decides to leave Manchester United. Marcus Rashford has been one of United's centre in attack since he arrived from the academy team. However, recently his future at Old Trafford has become unclear. The 26-year-old Englishman doesn't seem to get along with Erik Ten Hag, he was even caught having fun at a nightclub and ended up missing playing for United at the FA Cup stage in early January 2024. Several clubs are reportedly targeting Marcus Rashford. There are names Chelsea and Tottenham who want to use his services.
Emmanuel Petit then told Rashford that he should just move closer to Arsenal. The 53-year-old Arsenal legend himself previously hoped that the Gunners would bring in the 26-year-old striker so he could compete in the race for the Premier League title. “Listen, I know Kai Havertz has thrived at Arsenal, but it's hard to say whether Arteta could do the same with Rashford if he moved to the club. However, I believe Rashford needs a fresh start and I think Arsenal could be the right choice for him," he told Boyle Sports.
"We all know Rashford's qualities for what he has done over the years at Man United, but everyone questioned Havertz and his position when he moved from Chelsea. Would Rashford be good at Arsenal? Give me the paper [his contract], and let me sign it right now!" he exclaimed. Emmanuel Petit then tried to convince Marcus Rashford that Arsenal's squad was very conducive. This is different from the situation within the Manchester United squad. Petit then gave the example of Kai Havertz's case. Previously, Kai didn't shine at Chelsea but his luck improved when he joined Arsenal.
"Rashford being in a good environment would be a great thing for the Gunners because they all look miserable at United. I saw what happened to the fans and I understand the frustration, so if Rashford wants to leave he would be welcomed in Arsenal and the door is open for him," he claimed. "Havertz is in a strange environment at Chelsea and he is not happy, but he has smiled at Arsenal and I can finally see his teeth – I want that for Rashford," stressed Petit.
