Kiwi skipper Williamson to miss the second test, so does Rahane, Ishant and Jadeja

New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson has been ruled out of the second test after the world cup winning captain suffered an injury in the left elbow. This of course is a huge blow to the Kiwis as Kane is not just a brilliant captain but a very dependable batsman who knows the sub continent really well. In his absence, Tom Latham will be leading the side.

Head coach Gary Stead blamed the schedule for Kane’s injury. In the press he said, “It's been a really tough time for Kane having to deal with such a persistent injury”. He added, “While we’ve been able to manage the injury through the year and the T20 World Series, the shift to test cricket and the increased batting loading has re-aggravated his elbow”.

Not just the Kane dependable Williamson, three of India’s dependable players are also out with injury. Ajinkya Rahane, Ravindra Jadeja and Ishant Sharma will not be taking a part in the second test at Mumbai.

Rahane who had the risk of losing his spot in the team because of his form is ultimately losing because of his injury. Virat Kohli will be taking his spot in the second down position.

Ishant Sharma will be missing the test after the pacer dislocated his little finger on the final day of the Kanpur test. Mohammed Siraj will be replacing him in the team and he along with Umesh Yadav will be leading the pace bowling attack.

The left arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja sustained an injury in his right forearm and Jayant Yadav is very likely to replace him in the test match.
