Jay Shah confirms India vs. Pakistan in Asia Championship 2023

The breathtaking rivalry of India Vs. Pakistan will heat up again in the year 2023. When India and Pakistan lock horns in a cricket match, the whole globe comes to a complete stop. Due to the harsh political connections, the rivalry between the two teams is regarded as the greatest in the sport. The fresh update on this is India and Pakistan will be in the same group alongside a qualifying team for the Men's ODI Asia Championship 2023, held in September, confirmed by Asia Cricket Board President Jay Shah. Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka will make up the other group.

In the last year-round of the T20 Asia Championship 2022 in Dubai, Sri Lanka defeated Pakistan and lifted the Asia Championship for the sixth time. However, the Men in Blue couldn’t make it to the finals after losing crucial matches against Pakistan and Sri Lanka after the group stage.

Which nation will host the ODI Asia Championship in 2023 is still undetermined. Although Pakistan is the tournament's official host, the Asian Cricket Board may decide to move the event abroad because India is unwilling to visit its neighbor. However, the seven-time Asia Championship winners Indian team would try to regain the title in 2023.

India is a consistent champion of this tournament. In addition, India has competed in 10 of the total 15 Finals (India has participated in 14 editions, though skipping once). After India, Sri Lanka is the second-most successful team in the tournament by lifting the title six times. Meanwhile, the arch-rival Pakistan won the Asia Championship twice. The tournament began as a competition between three nations (India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka), but it grew to include six countries over time. The teams are India, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh, and one team is selected from the qualifiers round.
