Italian Giants back among Europe’s elite squads

It nearly took 10 years but Inter Milan and AC Milan have finally returned to their very best. It is great to see both teams jostling like the old days. The exhilarating Serie A drama continues as Sandro Tonali’s stoppage time goal against Napoli put the former champions on top of the table. The last gasp comeback victory is an exhibit of the appetite and character Pioni’s men have shown this season. If they continue to play the way they are then they can distinctly lift the Serie A trophy almost after 11 years. Inter on the other hand are just two points behind their local rivals.  A rivalry which was once considered legendary slowly began to lose its charm with time during the transition period. But now Inter under Simone Inzaghi and AC under Stefano Pioli have started to find some momentum and have looked threatening. The two teams last met in the Coppa Italia Frecciarossa 2021/22 semi finals on Wednesday. Inter got the better of their city rivals to book a place in the finals. Lautaro Martinez scored a brace to power his team to a dominating 3-0 victory. With Coppa Italia out of reach, Rossoneri’s Serie A title hopes are still alive! They will look to finish the remainder of the season with a flourish and bring back the glory days.
