What does the future hold for Federico Chiesa in Juve?

Italian club The Old Lady is considering Federico Chiesa's future, with the winger's contract expiring next year. The two parties reportedly did not find a new agreement agreed upon. The 26-year-old joined the Bianconeri from Fiorentina in 2020 and has made 113 appearances since then, scoring 28 goals in all competitions.

Chiesa suffered an ACL injury ruling him out of action for most of 2022, but although he has returned to fitness since then, Chiesa is still struggling for form. Juventus is in second place in the Serie A standings, but the results of four consecutive matches without a win have left them nine points behind the leaders, Inter Milan.

Chiesa is one of the players who may leave for a fantastic transfer fee because discussions regarding a new contract have started but no agreement has been reached. The Italian is one of the highest-paid players at Juve and there is no guarantee that the player and the club will reach an agreement on a new contract. With Chiesa's contract expiring in 2025, the Italian club will want to cash in on him this summer if no new deal can be reached. La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that the transfer fee could reach 25 million, which would tempt many suitors if true.

The EPL side Liverpool has long been linked with the son of legend Enrico Chiesa, with TuttoSport reporting that the Reds remain interested and could launch a summer bid to kick-start the post-Jurgen Klopp era. Another English side The Magpies has also been linked with Chiesa in the past, with a final bid last summer mooted but a move never materializing. There were reports last year that Chiesa and Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri had fallen out, but the player denied the rumours.

"I never had a problem with the coach, the media just created this. I did whatever he asked, there is no problem here," said Chiesa. "I know many of you would like it if Juve started the season badly, so you can start with pointless gossip, but we are all behind the coach and want to take Juve back to the years when they dominated the race for the Scudetto."
