Lewandowski’s heroic hattrick seals three crucial points for Barca

La Liga giant La Blaugrana managed to win by a landslide when they met Alaves, on Sunday(06th October). The match between Barcelona and Alaves was the ninth week of the 2024/2025 Spanish League. The match held in Mendizorroza was dominated by the Visitors Barac even though the hosts put up tough resistance, especially in the second half.

Barcelona's goal was scored by Robert Lewandowski who scored a hat-trick in this match. This result makes Barcelona collect 24 points from nine matches and they remain at the top of the 2024/2025 Spanish League standings. Meanwhile, Alaves is in 12th position with a collection of 10 points. This match opened with a bad sign for Barcelona. Ferran Torres was injured and replaced by Eric Garcia when the match had only been going on for six minutes.

However, a minute later, the fear of something bad happening was immediately erased. Since the Polish striker Lewandowski was able to break through Alaves' goal. He headed the free kick from the right side of the centre of the field and made it 0-1 in the favor of Visitors.

In the 22nd minute, Barcelona doubled the score, they scored again through Lewandowski. This time from a counterattack, the Polish player was able to finish Raphinha's pass and extended the lead to 0-2. In the 24th minute, Barca got two consecutive chances from Lewandowski and Raphinha. However, all of them were still thwarted by the Alaves goalkeeper. In the 32nd minute, Barca was able to score another goal, the 36-year-old striker Lewandowski managed to record a hat trick after completing an assist from Eric Garcia. He kicked the ball slowly in the penalty box to trick the opposing goalkeeper and took the unassailable lead of 0-3 for Barca.

In the 39th minute, Barca threatened again, this time from Pedri's left foot kick. Unfortunately, the ball was still saved by the goalkeeper. In the 45th minute, Alaves managed to score a goal from Toni Martinez. However, after the referee saw the replay from VAR, he annulled the goal. In the end, no additional goals were scored until halftime and it stood as Alaves 0-3 Barca.

In the second half, Alaves put up a fiercer fight, the Hosts had threatened Stoichkov's header in the 48th minute but the ball's speed was still blocked by Barcelona's defense. Because they couldn't score a goal, Alaves tried to change their tactics. However, they still had difficulty creating dangerous opportunities. In the 71st minute, Alaves got a chance from Tomas Conechny's action, he grabbed his teammate's header but the ball was still saved by the Barcelona goalkeeper.

Barca then threatened back from the actions of Ansu Fati and Lewandowski. However, the alert action of the Alaves goalkeeper managed to make Blaugrana's chances raw just like that. Alaves threatened again in the 78th minute from Kike Garcia's right-foot shot but again this opportunity was still neutralized by Inaki Pena. In the end, no additional goals were created and Barca won 3-0.
