Milan stuns Atletico while Liverpool keeps dominating

At the end of game week 5 in the Champions League, Atletico Madrid is right down in their group with four points. The defending champions of La Liga are not even in the Europa League spot and with a loss against Milan, things look very complicated for Diego Simeone and team.

Interestingly, not everything is over for the Madrid based club. Even though they are at the bottom of the table, they can finish the league stage being the second best team of the group. All they have to do is beat Porto on the final match day and expect Milan to go down against Liverpool.

The fans are optimistic for a good result and they are hopeful that their team will qualify for the next round. However, the team needs to improve a lot in order to do that. Against Milan, nothing really worked as Junior Messias scored the goal in the 87th minute to take Milan all the way. This win was really important for the Italy based club as it helped them to stay in the hunt for Champions League or Europa League. They however need to beat Liverpool in the final game week to progress to the next round and also pray that Porto goes down against Atletico.

Liverpool registered their 5th win of the tournament by beating Porto 2-0. Thiago’s stunner in the second half put Merseyside ahead and Mohammed Salah’s strike in the 70th minute extended Liverpool’s lead. In the post match press conference, Jurgen Klopp said, “so many good things tonight, players got minutes, rhythm, confidence, nobody got hurt”. On Thiago’s goal the Liverpool manager said, “Thiago’s goal… wow!”
