Manchester City Announces Rodri Suffers Right Knee Ligament Damage

The Premier League club Manchester City announced that Rodri suffered a ligament injury to his right knee. The Citizens previously faced Arsenal in the Premier League at the Etihad Stadium, on Sunday (22/09/2024). The 28-year-old  midfielder played as a starter in the match. However, he could only play briefly on the field in the 21st minute, he was pulled out and replaced by Mateo Kovacic.

After the match, Josep Guardiola was asked about Rodri's injury. However, the Spaniard admitted that at that time he did not know what the midfielder's actual condition was. "I don't know. I didn't speak to the doctor," Giardiola told the Premier League website.

"Rodri is strong, he had to leave the pitch because he felt something, otherwise Rodri would have stayed there," Guardiola said. Now Manchester City has finally announced Rodri's injury. They stated that the anchor midfielder had suffered a knee injury although the extent of the injury is not yet known. "Manchester City FC can confirm that Rodri has suffered a ligament injury to his right knee."

"The injury occurred in the first half of this weekend's 2-2 draw with the Gunners in the Premier League." The midfielder travelled to Spain to consult a specialist this week, after undergoing initial tests in Manchester. Assessments are ongoing to determine the extent of the injury and the expected prognosis."
