The Gunners beat Crystal Palace by 1-0 to secure three crucial points

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is satisfied after his team managed to beat Crystal Palace in the Premier League. Even though the Gunners' victory was obtained through a penalty goal. The duel between Crystal Palace and Arsenal took place at Selhurst Park, Tuesday (22/8/2023). The Gunners managed to bring home three points thanks to a narrow 1-0 win.

Arsenal's only goal was scored by Martin Odegaard from the penalty spot in the second half. The Gunners received a penalty after Sam Johnstone violated Eddie Nketiah in the forbidden box. The win ensured Arsenal are in 3rd place in the Premier League standings. They are sticking closely to Manchester City and Brighton above them, who also collect six points. Arsenal needed a penalty to beat Crystal Palace and the 41-year-old coach Mikel Arteta has no problem with that if he sees his team's dominance and reaction in the match.

"I like to win like this, the way we played the first half against very difficult teams in open play, but we dominated the game and didn't concede anything," Arteta told the BBC. "After scoring the goal there was more space, but we had to play with 10 men and we didn't concede with 10, so I'm happy with the team for their response in the game." Arteta also took his hat off to his opponent this time. According to him, Roy Hodgson's Palace is not an easy opponent to beat.

"Very impressed, that's what we want and keep improving the way we play," he continued. "They're very good at frustrating you and they're good at transitioning, but we don't allow a lot of things so we develop as well."
