Pat Cummins flies home for personal reasons, will be back before the third BGT test

Before the third test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Australian Captain Pat Cummins flew home due to some family issues. In the absence of the Pace skipper, the Aussie’s Batting Backbone, Steve Smith, will look over the captaincy duties until he comes. So noted, Australia has lost the first two tests of the Series, where Cummins picked only three wickets with a bowling economy of 39.66 in the series.

With their victory in the Delhi Test, India retained the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for a record-breaking fourth consecutive time. Still, Cummins, who played very little with the ball in the previous two spin-heavy matches, insisted that his team still had plenty to play for and that a drawn series was a significant motivator. The next three-match ODI series, which is essential in the run-up to this year's World Cup, will feature the 29-year-old as captain.

Meanwhile, Cummins made hints regarding possible alterations to Australia's lineup and roster for the Test in Indore. Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc, and Cameron Green are considered healthy. However, David Warner, who had a concussion and a hairline fracture in his left elbow, is still unsure about his ability to play.

Todd Murphy, an outstanding off-spinner, also struggled with side pain during the second innings in Delhi, but there will surely be enough time between tests for him to recover. Leg-spinner Mitchell Swepson is also anticipated to return to the team after visiting his family.

The third test has been scheduled to be held in Dharamshala, but due to some ground preparations, it will occur in Indore. India vs. Australia third test in Indore will begin on Wednesday, 1st March 2023.
