PSG thrashed Lyon in the Ligue 1 by 4-1

The dominant Ligue 1 side PSG successfully thrashed Lyon in the 30th match of the 2023/2024 French League at the Parc des Princes, on Sunday(21st April 2024). The Hosts PSG appeared superior to Lyon in this match and they dominated possession of the ball and appeared merciless in attack. PSG's goals were scored by Nemanja Matic (own), Lucas Beraldo and Goncalo Ramos (brace) meanwhile, Lyon's goal was scored by Ernest Nuamah.

This result puts PSG firmly at the top of the Ligue 1 standings with 66 points from 29 matches. Meanwhile, Lyon is in eighth place with a collection of 41 points, the French giants immediately appeared to attack from the first minute and within just three minutes they immediately broke through Lyon's goal and this goal was created by Nemanja Matic's suicide. Initially, PSG attacked from the left and finished with Vitinha's cross when the ball turned in direction after hitting the automatic and giving 1-0 to PSG. Three minutes later, PSG scored another goal from the corner kick to the right of Lyon's goal, the ball hit Barcola first at the near post before being converted into a goal by Beraldo in the middle of the penalty box and made it 2-0.

In the 32nd minute, PSG was able to score another goal when Hakimi, who attacked from the right, sent a cross to the far post. The ball was then headed by Goncalo Ramos and extended the lead to 3-0. Two minutes later PSG almost scored again. However, Barcola's shot still hit the goalpost in the 37th minute the Visitors finally managed to score a goal back. They attacked from the right wing and cut into the middle. He then fired a horizontal shot which Donnarumma couldn't stop and reduced the lead to 1-3.

Two minutes later, Lyon had a golden opportunity to score another goal. However, Nuamah's shot only hit the goalpost in the 42nd minute, and PSG finally scored another goal. From the counter-attack, Asensio sent a mature pass to Ramos which made the score line 4-1. In the second half, the visitors made several substitutions and tried everything to score more goals but they failed to drag PSG's dominance. PSG then tried to dampen Lyon's revival by making substitutions too in the end, until the match ended, there were no additional goals. The score remained 4-1.
