Real Madrid Target Bayern Munich's Alphonso Davies After Landing Kylian Mbappé

After securing the high-profile signing of Kylian Mbappé, Real Madrid have now set their sights on Bayern Munich's Alphonso Davies as their next target as per sources.

The Canada international's contract at the Allianz Arena is set to expire in 2025, and Madrid are hoping to capitalise on the situation by negotiating a deal for the talented 23-year-old this summer, rather than risk losing him on a free transfer next year.

Discussions between Madrid and Davies' camp are said to be "excellent", with the Spanish champions waiting for both the player and Bayern to decide on their next steps before making their move.

However, Davies is currently assessing a contract renewal offer from Bayern, though the terms are reportedly a long way from what the player would consider accepting to remain with the Bundesliga giants.

After a difficult 2023-24 season that saw Bayern end the campaign trophyless, the departure of Davies would be another blow, especially after the team was eliminated from the Champions League by Madrid in the semifinals, with the full-back coming off the bench to score in the second leg at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Madrid are keen to avoid damaging their relationship with Bayern, but they are also unwilling to overpay for a player who could be available on a free transfer in a year's time. The Spanish champions are reportedly only willing to go as high as €35-40 million in their negotiations.

The signing of Davies would be seen as an important addition to Carlo Ancelotti's squad, with the future of current first-choice left-back Ferland Mendy uncertain, as his contract expires in 2025.

Madrid were willing to let Mendy leave last summer, and the Frenchman's notable improvement in performance during the 2023-24 season could make him a more attractive proposition for potential suitors this time around.

The Spanish champions are hoping to follow a similar formula to the one they used to bring in Toni Kroos from Bayern in 2014, when they were able to negotiate an affordable price for a player who was also due to be out of contract a year later.
