More injury woos in the Indian team ahead of the Sri Lanka series

Not that anyone is complaining but recently, a lot of Indian players are getting sidelined because of their injuries. After the T20 World Series in UAE, Hardik Pandya had to leave the team because of injury and then Rohit Sharma missed an important series at South Africa. Washington Sundar is on-off in the team because of his injuries and now, Deepak Chahar and Suryakumar Yadav have been ruled out from the Sri Lanka series.

In a statement, the honorary secretary of the Indian board, Mr. Jay Shah said, “Deepak sustained a right quadriceps injury during bowling while Suryakumar suffered a hairline fracture during a fielding attempt in the third and final T20I against the West Indies in Kolkata on Sunday’.

Deepak Chahar is a very important cricketer for the Indian T20 side and his injury is a huge blow to the team. The pacer can also miss the starting of the Indian T20 League if not the entire league. On the other hand, Suryakumar has been brilliant in the limited chances that he got. In the recently concluded T20 Series against West Indies, the batter from Mumbai was also adjudged as the Player of the Tournament. Thus, with him gone, the Indian middle order will be tested against the Lankans.

The statement also read, “They will now head to the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru for further management of their injuries”.

Indian squad for the Sri Lanka series - Rohit Sharma (Captain), Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shreyas Iyer, Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan (wicket-keeper), Venkatesh Iyer, Deepak Hooda, Ravindra Jadeja, Yuzvendra Chahal, Ravi Bishnoi, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohd.
