Atalanta outskirt Liverpool by 3-1 in aggregate to advance to the semis

The 56-year-old Jurgen Klopp's chance to experience the first Europa League title in his career has been dashed. The reason is, that the Reds have just been eliminated by Atalanta in this event, Liverpool visited Italy to face Atalanta in the second leg of the Europa League quarter-finals, 2023/2024 on Thursday(18th April 2024). The Reds carried a tough mission because they lost 0-3 in the first leg however, Liverpool was only able to win narrowly 1-0 at Gewiss Stadium and the visitors' only goal was scored by Mohamed Salah from the penalty spot in the 7th minute. This result made Liverpool win, but cry at last as they were feigned by Atalanta to KO from the semifinals with a 1-3 aggregate.

This result forced Klopp to bury his dream of winning the Europa League trophy. Klopp doesn't seem to have a match in this competition and the German coach has presented many titles for Liverpool winning the Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup, Champions League, Community Shield, European Super Cup and Club World Cup.

However, there is only one trophy that Klopp has not won during his time as manager at Anfield. It's the Europa League. Klopp previously led Liverpool to appear in the 2015/2016 Europa League final where they failed to become champions after losing to Sevilla. Klopp had mixed feelings after Liverpool was eliminated from the Europa League, his hopes of appearing in the final did not come true. "The feelings are mixed. We were knocked out but I'm happy with the match, we were hoping to go to Dublin but that didn't happen," Klopp told TNT Sports. “We now have one competition left and we will dive into it fully.”
