Tuchel open to Bayern stay

 
Bayern Munich coach Thomas Tuchel is open to extend his stay at the Allianz Arena amid concerns he might not be offered the Man United head coach role even if he is available as per the sources

Bayern announced in February that Tuchel would depart the club at the end of the season. But after being rejected by numerous potential replacements- including Julian Nagelsmann, Xabi Alonso and Ralf Rangnick- the German giants have held talks with Tuchel about the possibility of continuing with them. 

Tuchel has regarded United as a possible next move if they opt to part ways with current manager Erik Ten Hag at the end of the season. But as per a source, he fears perhaps he might not land the job even if Ten Hag leaves. 

There is a concern that new sporting director Dan Ashowrth wants a head coach to slot into a wider structure instead of appointing a boss with more control, leading Tuchel to believe he might not be chosen for the job . 

The former PSG and Chelsea coach has a reputation for challenging club chiefs. Meanwhile, Ashworth has built an impressive CV as a successful sporting director by working with Gareth South Gate during his time with England Football Association and with Graham Potter at Brighton. 

Tuchel remains open to having formal talks and discussions with United if negotiations break down with Bayern and a vacancy opens up at the ‘Theatre of Dreams’. 

The former Ajax coach, who has a contract until 2025, has come under scrutiny following a dismal season at the helm. United finished at the bottom of their Champions League group and with just one league game to go, are at the risk of registering their worst finish in the Premier League era.

United, who are currently placed eight in the PL standings will fail to qualify for Europe next season if they do not finish in the top seven or win the FA Cup.
