Vincent Kompany joins Burnley as their new head coach

Burnley has appointed Manchester City legend Vincent Kompany as their head coach for the next season. The 36-year-old was previously in charge of Anderlecht where he spent his last two years. The defender has helped the Belgium-based team to finish third in the league stage and qualify for the European Cup next season. Despite a successful season in his home country, Kompany decided to join Burnley and help the Championship side to find the lost success.

“Burnley is a truly historic English side and it’s an honour to be appointed first-team manager”, Kompany said. Former Manchester City captain added, “I’m looking forward to work with the players and creating a positive, winning team for our fans when we return to Turf Moor. I have been impressed by the boards’ vision for the club which aligns with my own and I look forward to playing my part as we enter an important season”.

Former coach Sean Dyche was sacked from his responsibilities after he failed to help the team to stay in the Premier League. Mike Jackson took over as the interim manager but nothing really helped the club as they finished 18th in the table with 35 points from 38 games and was eventually relegated from the league.

The experience of Kompany will help the club to regain their momentum and qualify for the Premier League next season. Former Belgian International has won multiple Premier League and FA Cup titles to inspire the players at Burnley.
