The fifth match of the Women's T20 WC 2023 will take place between BAN-W and SL-W on Sunday, 12th February at 10:30 PM IST. This match is scheduled to take place at Newlands, Cape Town. 

BAN-W and SL-W are placed in Group A alongside NZ-W, Hosts SA-W and Defending Champions Australia. Both teams ended their campaign in the first round itself in the previous tournaments and will be eager to go ahead to the knockouts this year. The Lankan side beat the host's Proteas and will look to win this match to get confidence and momentum ahead on Sunday against Bangladesh in their 2nd encounter of the tournament.

BAN-W batters scored below-par totals of 101/7 & 131/8 in their 2 warm matches. The captain of the day side Nigar Sultana (40 & 15 runs), Shamina Sultana (36 & 15 runs), and Murshida Khatun (32 runs) played good cameos but failed to convert it into a big total. Bangladeshi batters will need to bring their best performance to post a good total against the last match's victorious Sri Lanka side.

With the Likes of Nahida Akhter, Marufa Akter, and Rumana Ahmed picked wickets regularly and bowled pretty economically in the warm-up matches. Both the solid bowlers Jahanara Alam and Salma Khatun will open the bowling attack for the BAN-W. Ritu Moni and Marufa Akter will add depth to their line-up.

The Lankan side played superbly to win the opening match by 3 runs against South Africa in the WC 2023 opening encounter. Skipper of the side Chamari Athapaththu lead the batting line-up with 68 runs off 50 balls and Vishmi Gunaratne gave good support with 35 runs at the other end. No other player scored over 10 runs and they ended their innings with 129/4 in their 20 overs. 

SL-W bowlers restricted the opposition to 126/8 to win by 3 runs. Courtesy of Oshadi Ranasinghe (2/20) and Inoka Ranaweera (3/18) was superb with the ball picking up wickets in the middle overs in the opening match of the eighth edition of T20 WC 2023. Sugandika Kumari held her nerve during the crucial last over and had figures of 4-0-28-2. Achini Kulasurya and Ama Kanchana bowled decently in powerplay economically.

SL-W will be high on confidence after winning their opening match against the Hosts after an inspired performance by their captain. Sri Lanka has a good track record against BAN-W. Bangladesh too has been very inconsistent and needs to bring their best game in this match on Sunday. But we say Sri Lanka to win this match comfortably against Bangladesh.
