World T20 Series 2022

Super 12, Group 2, Match 29- PAK vs NED

Preview

Pakistan will cross swords with the Netherlands on Sunday, October 30. The match will be played in the Perth stadium. Both of the teams have not tasted a single victory in the T20 World Series 2022. In this match, one team will win their first match and keep their keen hopes for the semi-finals alive.

The team led by Babar Azam has lost two nail-biting thrillers against their arch-rivals' India and other against Zimbabwe.  In both, the matches they were under control but blew it up at the end half due to their stupid mistakes. Pakistan cannot afford to lose any further matches, as a defeat would effectively eliminate them from the semi-finals race. Net Run Rate will play a vital role in this equation, the Men in Green needs must need a win by a massive margin. The top-order batters other than Mohammad Rizwan have appeared shaky and are the reason behind the failures of the team.

The mid-order Pak batters haven't fired in any of the matches. Only Shan Masood stood out, he was also the lone warrior in the heavyweight match against India. In order of scoring a competitive score, Pakistan's middle order must perform admirably. The task will be difficult because the Netherlands have played good cricket till now although they haven't won any. Bas de Leede, Max O'Dowd, and Scott Edwards have all looked impressive for the Dutch side. They were also on the verge of causing a great upset against the Lankan side.

Hot Fantasy Picks

(i) Wicket Keeper

Mohammad Rizwan (PAK)- He has also been quite consistent in this tournament and has distance from his team’s horrific performance. He also has a better pair of hands behind the wickets which makes him a perfect choice for your fantasy team.

(ii) Batsmen

Shan Masood (PAK)- He is the only Pakistani batsman who looks in some decent form. He was also the lone scorer in the last two matches. The left-handed batsman smashed 96 runs in two games, which is the most by any player from his team. He scored the best among the team, 52 runs against India, before smashing another crucial 44-run against Zimbabwe while the batters from the other end kept on losing wickets.

Max O’Dowd (NED)- The Netherlands’ batter has proven to be the trump card for his side. With 153 runs in five games,  with an average of 38.25 and a strike rate of 123.38, he is leading the run-scoring table among his teammates.

The 28-year-old batsman played a brilliant knock of unbeaten 71 runs against Sri Lanka. Besides that, he also showcased his skills by scoring 35 valuable runs against Namibia.

(iii) All-Rounders

Colin Ackermann (NED)- He has kept the expectations of his teammates and has been performing well in this tournament which brings him the best all-rounders playing in this match.

(iv) Bowlers

Mohammad Wasim (PAK)- He was the replacement for Asif Ali in the Playing XI in the previous clash and stood up to the expectations of his captain. He has taken four wickets and has been impressive with his death-bowling skills. He tried his level best to get Pakistan over the line with the bat in the match against Zimbabwe but failed because the opponents’ bowlers were on a wicket-taking streak that day.

Fred Klaassen (NED)- He has been impressive in this tournament and is quite unpredictable with his line and length which confuses the batters.

Paul van Meekeren (NED)- The surface of the Perth stadium is ideal for his raw pace. His bowling style astonished one and all in the match against India.

Match Prediction

Pakistan is failing to control every moment of a cricket game, especially for their mid-order batters. It was, is and will be tough for them to get over-the-line performance with this team. On the other hand, the Netherlands have’nt won any of the matches but has definitely impressed one and all with their performance. It will be no surprise if the underdogs beat Pakistan in this match of the World T20 Series 2022.
