Adidas will be the kit sponsor of the Indian team from June 2023 to March 2028

Sports equipment maker Adidas is very close to becoming the kit sponsor of the Indian cricket team. Currently, Killer Jeans has sponsorship rights for Team India's cricket kit. According to reports, the contract with Adidas will start in June this year and will run until March 2028. Since becoming a killer sponsor, it was not seen as a role model as the company did not have a cricket background.

The Indian Cricket Board was also eager to fix it and may be ready to change that now. The previous sponsor, the Mobile Fantasy League, soon pulled out of the deal. Hence Killer Jeans came forward as the new sponsor. Before joining hands with the Fantasy League board, Nike had a five-year deal with the Indian Cricket Board, during which it had a deal worth Rs 370 crore from 2016 to 2020. It had been paying the Indian cricket board Rs 65 lakhs per match and Rs 9 crores as royalty for a three-year deal.

For the first time, Indian Cricket Board and Nike had ended their partnership, followed by Mobile Fantasy League and then Killer Sponsors. Ever since Fantasy League and Killer became sponsors, questions were being raised that these companies had no background in the sport. In such a case, the team's kit will again be recognized as a strong kit sponsor with the arrival of Adidas and the brand value will increase worldwide as well. With Adidas now close to coming on the Indian cricket board, the proverbial chip will soon be “back on the shoulder”.

Earlier, Adidas was the kit sponsor of the Indian T20 League-based franchise Mumbai and England cricket teams. Team India's skipper Rohit Sharma, the left-arm chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav and the left-handed wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant are the current Adidas brand ambassadors. However, Adidas national cricket team will enter the market through the Indian cricket team. At present, Adidas only sponsors South East Stars and Surrey after their sponsorship deal with England ended.

Talking about the current BGT Test series, The Visistors Australia is trailing 0-2 after losing the first two matches of the four-match test series against Hosts India. Pat Cummins' side lost by innings and 132 runs in Nagpur, while India beat them by 6 wickets in the Delhi Test. After these two consecutive defeats, the crown of number 1 in Test cricket is likely to be snatched from Australia this Wednesday. The third match of this test series will be played in Indore from March 1.
